Why is it that disabled people are so caught up on "people first language"?

Wow. I guess it will take your having become disabled for you to understand. The laws have changed to accommodate people with disabilities. So by that you can see people and the government ARE sensitive to those with disabilities even if you aren't. When they say the word "person" before the disability it it for the purpose to make people aware that before anything, the person is a person, a human being just like you and me. I've never heard a person who is disabled complain about SSI. Please gently take the chip off your shoulder.
