Any suggestions on laptop brand and models not more than US $1000?

I'm a Design student and I'm planning to buy a laptop. I'm looking for a particular one that could support various programs that I'm gonna use as part of my Design studies. (ie.photoshop, ilustrator, auto cad, etc.) And I only have US $1000 in my piggy bank. I don't know much about laptop stuffs so I'm asking for suggestions from you guys! Help me.. Have to buy a laptop before school begins by June 2008.
