Do you think there's anything wrong with wearing shorts in the summer?

I like wearing shorts in the summer. They are comfy and especially the kinda summmers we have in chi-town. Anyway I'm 5'1 and 135lbs. I can't help the fact I have big legs and wide hips. My friends make me feel bad for wearing them. They say I draw unwanted attention and when their with me they feel uncomfortable. I only wear a t-shirt and my air force one gym shoes with my shorts.
